With whom we share your data

If you place an order using a credit or debit card, your data will be sent to Stripe, our payment processor. If you opt to have your credit or debit card information stored for future purchases, your card numbers and billing address will be sent to and stored in Stripe’s database.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Types of data we collect

Order and registration information

For users that place orders, we store their name, billing address, shipping address(es), phone number, products ordered, and any other information relevant to fulfilling the order. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We do not store entire credit or debit card numbers in our database. Rather, card numbers are sent to our payment processor, Stripe, who will use the card number to complete the transaction. At the time you place the order, you are given the option to save your card number for future purchases. If you choose to do so, Stripe will store your credit card information in their database. Stripe’s privacy policy is at: https://stripe.com/privacy.

We will also store limited credit or debit card information in our Showa Farm website database, only if you have chosen to save your card for future orders, as follows:

  • Last 4 digits of card number
  • Type of card
  • Brand of card (VISA, Mastercard, Discover, etc.)
  • Expiration date

This information will then be shown to you the next time you place an order, so that you may choose among your saved cards rather than having to re-enter card information to place a new order. It will also be used by Stripe, our payment processor, to match the card you have chosen with the one stored in Stripe’s database. We do not store entire credit card numbers in our own website system, to prevent the possibility that someone could use customer credit card data for fraudulent activity.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitorโ€™s IP address and browser user agent string to help us filter out spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it to provide a profile picture. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you provide us with images or recordings for public viewing, they may be shared with anyone who visits the website. You may request that we remove any media that you have given us, and we will do so within a timeframe reasonable for our staffing and workload.

Do not upload or send us copyrighted material for which you do not yourself hold the copyright. You will be responsible for any copyright violations for materials that you have presented to us.

You may wish to avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from such images on the website.

Cookies

We use cookies to provide a better user experience and to compile statistical data to improve our website. See ourย Cookie Opt-Out Preferencesย page for more information.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you place an order, order information is retained indefinitely. This is so that we can fulfill your order, provide you with order history, issue refunds if needed, compile statistics for improving our business, and fulfill any possible future obligations or requests that may arise out of past orders, such as a dispute.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
